Quality Pools & Spas was formed in 1979 by Downing & Kelly Johnson to provide local swimming pool owners with products and services not being offered in Ponca City and Kay County. It was started with two employees with the desire to provide both pool supplies & water analysis in our retail store and technical services and installation of pool equipment in customers backyards. We grew the business slowly for the first 15 years and expanded the business in the Spring of 1995 with a new store location, products & services. Our enhanced showroom gave us the room to bring in new products and the ability to offer a larger selection for the customer to choose from. We grew our service department from one Part Time Technician to a fully staffed and multi-functional team, with unique skills to service all of our customers needs.
Meet our Team
Kelly Johnson - Owner
Kelly Johnson - Owner. Entered the pool industry in 1979 while attending college. Upon graduation form OSU, moved to Houston, TX working for BioLab (BioGuard Pool & Spa Products) as a Technical Sales Representative calling on dealers throughout Central & South Texas. Returned to work in Ponca City for the family business in 1995 as Business Manager. Kelly & his wife Cheryl bought the business in 1998, and quickly expanded their locations into Arkansas City, KS and Stillwater, OK. In February on 2021, they sold their water treatment business and are now focusing their efforts in Ponca City and surroundings areas. Kelly has been active in Ponca City serving as past Chair for The Ponca City Chamber of Commerce & Ponca City Development Authority and President of various boards throughout the community. Kelly is currently an active Rotarian in The Ponca City Rotary Club.
Team Members
Mike Smith - Service Manager
Has been employed with Quality Pools & for 26 years and is our lead in our Service Department. Mike's skill set's are varied from swimming pools to spas to hearth products.
Robert Rush
Has been employed with Quality Pools & Spas for 12 years. Robert is our lead for weekly pool cleaning and helps the Service Department with inground pool liner installations as will as spa installations.
Anessa Kirchenbauer
Has been employed with Quality Pools & Spas going on 6 years and is our Lead CSR handling all of our customers needs in our retail store.
Austin Godfrey - Service Tech I
Has been employed with Quality Pools & Spas going on 4 years
Aaron Liebes
Joined Quality Pools & Spas Spring of 2026 and is training to become Service Tech II.
Garin Clinton
Joined Quality Pools & Spas Summer of 2026 and is training to become Service Tech II.
